About Us

Our Story:

Otaku Underground was founded by two friends back in 2006 that believed in connecting with fellow members of the anime community to provide them with products that they wanted to collect and enjoy.

At its founding, Otaku Underground was a member of SMZ Ventures, up to July of 2011. At this time, Otaku Underground became a separate entity in the form of an LLC company and is currently owned and operated solely by one of the original owners and operator George Rainey Jr, out of Pennsylvania.

Setsucon was the first convention that we attended after our founding, and we have attended each year of Setsucon since. Currently, we attend two local conventions annually with plans to expand to additional conventions in the near future.

Mission:

The mission of Otaku Underground is to connect with fellow fans of anime at conventions and online and to provide them with the products they would like to see. We do this because we are not just a business, but members of the fan community.

Our Promise:

Because we are also fans, we know the disappointment when we realize we have bought a product that is not legitimate and of a poorer quality. For this reason, we promise to only carry legitimate products that are distributed through original manufacture authorized distributors.

Our Moto:

Not just a store, but fellow fans, and friends

Who we serve:

Otaku Underground was founded to provide fellow anime fans with access to legitimate and reasonably priced anime products while also connecting with the fan community on a closer level than other companies.

Conventions:

In addition to selling on our web page, Otaku Underground also sells in the vendor's rooms of a couple of conventions, with our home convention, and most dear to us being the Setsucon anime convention held yearly in State College Pennsylvania by the Penn State Anime Organization. We find conventions to be the best way to meet and to get to know other members of the fan community. Please check our conventions page for a full list of conventions that we will be attending.
